Carol Hink, Chief Wayfinder
This isn't just a service. It's my calling.
As a young petty officer in the U.S. Coast Guard, I stood amidst a team unraveling from the strains of a fractured culture. Mistakes weren't just errors; they were matters of life and death.
One day, driven by frustration and purpose, I approached our Commanding Officer. "We need change," I asserted. He simply responded, "Then be that change."
So, at 22, I orchestrated an unconventional team-building experience. We swapped military attire for our "civies," stepping onto a boat, not as ranks, but as individuals. The river's white water roared with freedom and vulnerability. It was more than morale-boosting; it was soul-stirring. We became united by a shared purpose.
Time flowed, and while my maritime lessons transitioned into team dynamics on land, the ocean's pull remained undeniable. Then, a chance meeting during the pandemic with a sailor reunited me with the sea.
I realized that sailing mirrored life and business—the unpredictable waves, camaraderie, and strategy – all reflecting the daily challenges we face. The sea isn't just a space; it's a storyteller and a mentor. It tests resilience, unveils character, and bonds souls.
Today, I merge these lessons, guiding guests through transformative journeys and harnessing the power of the ocean.
